on conformity

If you're a teen-aged to young adult female today, you either dress in one of two ways:
1) TNA jacket + Lululemon sweater + TNA or Lululemon yoga pants + UGG boots OR

2) anything else besides the items listed in (1).
I swear, these days, it seems like the distribution of teen-aged to young adult females is 50-50 between groups (1) and (2).

What is it about TNA apparel, Lululemon clothing, and UGG boots that make them so popular among females of these ages? Why are they always worn together as one outfit? Why do girls wear Lululemon pants even if they're not exercising?

No wonder Vancouver has been voted as one of the "worst dressed cities". Sure, Lululemon and TNA may have started in Canada (Vancouver to be exact), but it doesn't mean that you have to wear these brands out everywhere you go and always in the same outfit.

I bet you lots of money that half these girls that wear Lululemon do not even exercise. I mean, how often do you see a female Asian toothpick sweating it out at the gym or yoga studio these days?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for comfort and what not. I won't deny that I spend a lot of time in my sweats and such, but at least I don't look like everyone else around me! I'm also not a brand-whore, and I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on gym apparel when I can buy them elsewhere at a much cheaper price.

My ultimate pet-peeve with wearing the items in (1) is that you end up looking like almost every other girl. Why on earth would anyone want to CONFORM to these "fads"? Not to mention, the whole get-up in (1) is SO boring and overdone... Who would want to look boring?

I wonder if guys actually find camel toes, ugly looking boots, and tight-ass pants flattering. (Ok, that last item might catch the male eye, but what about the other things?)

Lululemon should have the following words in their "manifesto" instead:
